FOGS - A DECADE OF SUPPORT  TO THE GALLERY AND VISUAL ARTS

The Friends of the Manning Regional Art Gallery Inc (FOGS) proudly announce the launch of its new look website, fogsmanningvalley.com.au, launched on  Monday February 24, 2014  This follows on from the original website which went live 5 years ago which provided the Manning Regional Art Gallery and FOGS a web presence for the first time.

FOGS is also proud to announce that it has provided approximately $2,900 to the Manning Regional Art Gallery to assist with the development of its own website, manningregionalartgallery.com.au, which should go live in the near future.

This funding, most of which was used to determine the scope and design for the new Gallery website, was part of a $10,000 funding commitment made by FOGS to Greater Taree City Council in a Business Plan presented to Council in June 2013.

In accepting our Business Plan for the future sustainable growth of the Gallery, Council committed funding for the employment of an additional 10 hours per week casual position at the Gallery, with the aim of increasing income from Gallery activities to partially offset Gallery operating costs, thus ensuring the future sustainability of our Regional Art Gallery.

H Fish and Tom Reid Exhibitions – 7 Feb to 2 March

Social Commentary through Colour and Art
Internationally acclaimed artist and social commentator, H. Fish, will be exhibiting a dramatic series of works at the Manning Regional Art Gallery from Friday 7 February until Sunday 2 March.
Artist, H. Fish, is driven by life experiences and social awareness to create a colourful commentary on the social environment as he sees it.
With his indicative urbanesque style Fish draws the viewer in to discover the true meaning of the heavily layered historic and modern day symbolism. Fish isolates his subject matter and delivers imagery with challenging, often confrontational or controversial elements without losing the high the visuality that appeals to young and old. Viewers can enjoy the playful elements or dig deeper.
The H. Fish exhibition is being held concurrently with an exhibition from Wingham-based artist, Tom Reid, whose works include collages of photographs and drawings of relics and ruins from Egypt, Israel, Palestine and Jordan.  The collages are an attempt to breathe meaning and understanding into the stories, history and myths that form the basis of our western culture and which we are so familiar with.
The Official Opening of the H.Fish “Visions” Exhibition will be by Deb Wall, Curator of Coffs Harbour Regional Art Gallery, on Friday 7 February at 6:30 pm.  Cost is $10 ($7- FOGS members). RSVPs are essential to gallery@gtcc.nsw.gov.au or by calling 6592 5455.
From Saturday 8 February for the duration the exhibition entry is free and all artworks are for sale.
