Internationally acclaimed artist and
social commentator, H. Fish, will be exhibiting a dramatic series of works at
the Manning Regional Art Gallery from Friday 7 February until Sunday 2 March.
Artist, H. Fish, is driven by life
experiences and social awareness to create a colourful commentary on the social
environment as he sees it.
With his indicative urbanesque style
Fish draws the viewer in to discover the true meaning of the heavily layered
historic and modern day symbolism. Fish isolates his subject matter and
delivers imagery with challenging, often confrontational or controversial
elements without losing the high the visuality that appeals to young and old.
Viewers can enjoy the playful elements or dig deeper.
The H. Fish exhibition is being held
concurrently with an exhibition from Wingham-based artist, Tom Reid, whose
works include collages of photographs and drawings of relics and ruins from
Egypt, Israel, Palestine and Jordan. The collages are an attempt to
breathe meaning and understanding into the stories, history and myths that form
the basis of our western culture and which we are so familiar with.
The Official Opening of the H.Fish
“Visions” Exhibition will be by Deb Wall, Curator of Coffs Harbour Regional Art
Gallery, on Friday 7 February at 6:30 pm. Cost is $10 ($7- FOGS members).
RSVPs are essential to gallery@gtcc.nsw.gov.au or by calling 6592 5455.
From Saturday 8 February for the
duration the exhibition entry is free and all artworks are for sale.
